Negotiating and Mediating for International Peace

Feb 25, 2022 | Activities, Talks, Thought Leadership

Ye-Min Wu’s sharing on the theme “Negotiating and Mediating for International Peace” could not have come at a more opportune time on 24 February 2022. SMP was grateful for the candid anecdotes, tips, and experiences from Ye-Min’s career negotiating at the United Nations and with the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD). It gave our members pause and an opportunity to reflect on what mediators can do to promote peace and dialogue in the region and beyond.

We learned more about the work of HD, including empowering local leaders to mediate and resolve conflict in their communities, which is important for local and regional stability. Ye-Min also dealt with a whole host of questions covering trust-building techniques, managing multi-party negotiations, cultural sensitivity, and her go-to techniques. The word cloud shows a visualisation of what was discussed!
