Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC)
Seng Onn is an experienced dispute resolution trainer where he oversaw SMC’s training work as well as a faculty of trainers, coaches and assessors. He has been involved as the lead instructor for many conflict management workshops in countries such as Austria, Brunei, Cambodia, Fiji, Hong Kong, Jordan, Malaysia, Malta, the Philippines and United Arab Emirates. He also has considerable experience in developing new training programmes and curricula.
Seng Onn was an officer of the Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC) for over 2 decades. He took over as Executive Director, SMC from 2004 till 2019. As Executive Director, he was involved in the strategic development of SMC as well as had oversight of its day to day operations. Under his leadership, SMC grew to be one of the largest ADR institutions in the region, with around 1000 disputes lodged per year and over 600 mediators on its panel.
Seng Onn is on the panel of mediators of SMC as well as the Singapore International Mediation Centre. He is also a CEDR UK, IMI (International Mediation Institute) and SIMI (Singapore International Mediation Institute) accredited mediator and a gazetted mediator for the Tribunal for the Maintenance of Parents. Seng Onn also used to hold Board positions in IMI and SIDRA (Singapore International Dispute Resolution Academy). He is an EXCO member of the Society of Mediation Professional (Singapore). Seng Onn has mediated and resolved a great diversity of disputes, ranging from family matters to complex commercial disputes.
Before his involvement in mediation, Seng Onn used to be a practising lawyer. He was called to the Singapore Bar in 1989. He is also a member of the Singapore Academy of Law.
