MOHAMED FAIZAL MOHAMED ABDUL KADIR
Mohamed Faizal is an accredited mediator and arbitrator with a variety of domestic and international institutions. Mohamed Faizal serves, inter alia, as a Fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, an Associate Mediator and Healthcare Mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre and an Accredited Mediator with the Hong Kong Mediation Centre. Apart from being involved in numerous dispute and conflict resolution initiatives in Singapore, he has also been extensively involved in mediation and conflict resolution initiatives around the world, including in the United States, Africa, Asia and in the South Pacific.
By way of educational background in the area of dispute and conflict resolution, Mohamed Faizal has studied mediation, negotiation and alternative dispute resolution in the National University of Singapore, the Singapore Mediation Centre, the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators, Harvard University and Oxford University. He has received numerous awards and honours for his work in these fields, including being conferred the Association of Conflict Resolution’s International Outstanding Leadership Award and the Mediator of the Year (International) Award at the UK National Mediation Awards.
Mohamed Faizal is a legal professional in the public service. He has published extensively in the areas of criminal law and procedure, mediation and in the field of conflict resolution, and has also served on numerous editorial boards in domestic and international journals, law reviews and publications both in the field of conflict resolution as well as in other areas.
A recipient of the International Insolvency Institute’s Gold Medal for his academic work in the area of international insolvency, he served as General Editor of “Criminal Procedure Code: Annotations and Commentary”, and authors the “Criminal Procedure, Evidence and Sentencing” and the “Muslim Law” chapters of the SAL Annual Review of Cases. He has also taught both law and conflict resolution at a variety of institutions, including at the National University of Singapore, the Singapore Mediation Centre and for the Part A and Part B Singapore Bar Examinations Courses.
A member of the MUIS Appeal Board, he was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) in 2014 and inducted as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader in 2016.
